Yaiza about her internship at Holtab: “Welcoming and humble”
Yaiza Härdelin is studying “Optimisation of sustainable energy systems” at the Yrkeshögskolan (YH). A 12-week internship at Holtab is part of her education. Here she has focused on how to optimise Holtab’s electrical system.
“The hope is that the analysis can help Holtab develop new services for its customers,” she says about the internship with Holtab’s strategy and business development department.
Yaiza lives in Stockholm and, after many years in the service industry, has set her sights on working with electricity and energy. In her two-year YH training, she focuses on areas such as e-mobility, battery storage, smart homes, electricity grids and solar cells.
"There’s a lot going on in this extensive area. I’ve always been interested in how things work, but in terms of my profession, this is new to me," she says.
Values are important
The Learning at Work (LIA) internship from Yrkeshögskolan was recently completed and meant that Yaiza participated in Holtab’s work remotely. She met regularly with Holtab’s senior business developer Mohamed Ezzo at the office in Täby. She also visited Holtab’s head office and factory in Tingsryd.
"I have got a good impression of Holtab and am particularly impressed by their values and how the employees live up to them. I attended a meeting with a lot of people in senior positions, half women and half men. The jargon was characterised by equality."
She describes the atmosphere at Holtab as being humble. "Everyone took time for me and my questions. It feels like an inviting company in every way," says Yaiza.
Developing the business
By looking into how Holtab can optimise its own electricity consumption, the idea is that these insights and proposed measures can be used to develop new services for customers.
"I am writing a report that I will continue to work on for my thesis. There is a lot of data to be collected and processed," she says.
How would you summarise your time at Holtab?
"Educational. I have made many contacts, and I find their work on values inspiring. I am happy that I got to know Holtab."
