Holtab's expertise in demand as plug-in cars increase

In the transport sector, the development of electrified vehicles is going fast. “An e-revolution is happening right now,” says Carl-Fredrik Gyllenhammar, responsible for Holtab’s investment in electrified transport, e-mobility.

Holtab works in several projects with leading brands so that more electric vehicles can be driven on the roads. Charging infrastructure is in demand by hardware stores, supermarkets, bus companies and car manufacturers, among others. Gas station chains also want more charging when the business model is converted from liquid fuel to electric charging.

“Electrification of the transport and automotive industry is essential for us to succeed in the transition to a more sustainable society. At Holtab, we are proud of the knowledge we possess when it comes to charging infrastructure for electric vehicles,” says Carl-Fredrik Gyllenhammar.

In addition to commercial projects, Holtab is also involved in more innovation-oriented projects, for example vessels powered by electricity.

High demand

Holtab’s substations are central to charging sites. It is through the substation that the site gets access to the high-voltage grid. Knowing the grid companies’ different solutions and applications is important to set up a successful website in the smoothest possible way.

“We have customers with different levels of knowledge. Some know a lot about building charging stations, many appreciate that we can guide them. We have extensive experience of working with the grid companies and know what applies in the industry,” says Carl-Fredrik Gyllenhammar at Holtab.

Holtab is experiencing record demand for its products and services.

“I sometimes get several calls a day with stakeholders who want to build charging sites. Many of them want us to take overall responsibility for developing a sustainable solution.”

Long-lasting tips

Holtab offers to build and equip the substation as well as groundwork and other site preparations. Holtab installs and commissions the station once it is in place, and afterwards we are available for any service requests and future modernisations.

“We work closely with our customers and believe in long-term teamwork. We know what it takes to put together a charging site with a suitable product.”

What tips do you give to potential and current e-mobility customers?

“Be proactive and think far ahead. Don’t do it too small – the development towards more plug-in vehicles is happening at an incredibly fast pace. It will take some time to get the charging infrastructure in place. Among other things, this concerns delivery times, permits and land maintenance agreements. We offer so-called double stations, which means that the customer can easily install an additional substation if they need to expand later. This gives us more opportunities,” says Carl-Fredrik Gyllenhammar.

Holtab is part of Power Circle, which works to explore and drive the future issues of electrification. Power Circle brings together around 100 companies in the energy industry.
