Holtab is innovative when energy distribution changes
Grid companies are facing challenges as electrification accelerates. For Holtab, this development has led to new collaborations and more innovative solutions.
“More is happening now than in decades. We at Holtab are involved now when the electricity grid is used in a new way,” says Michael Martinsson, who is a sales engineer at Holtab.
In its efforts to find innovative solutions for electricity distributors, Holtab has recently developed new products, including a new concept for outdoor-operated substations. These are stations built in sheet metal on concrete slabs that Holtab is able to produce in a standardised manner in large volumes.
“It’s suitable for customers who have high demands on quality and functionality, and who want many stations at the same time,” says Michael Martinsson.
State-of-the-art technology
The electricity grid is critical infrastructure, and its functioning is at least as important as, for example, the road network. Sweden’s increasing electrification means that the electricity grid must be equipped for larger volumes, while the number of electricity producers is increasing and diversifying. Both companies and individuals purchase solar panels to add to the electricity system.
“This change is turning a lot upside down. Together with a generally increased demand for electricity and a changed world situation with new safety policy aspects, modern thinking is needed in our industry,” he says.
Holtab delivers substations that are prepared and created according to these new parameters. The stations have the latest technology, always from established suppliers.
“We and our customers work together to reach the right level when it comes to monitoring, measuring and remote control. It must be digitalised and have a high level of security,” says Michael Martinsson at Holtab.
