The role of electrical designer

With the help of mainly CAD programs, you will design electrical systems for low and medium voltage switchgear, transformers, relay and control equipment, as well as alarms and monitoring based on a basis provided by a sales engineer or project manager. As an electrical designer, you will collaborate with our mechanical designers, as they are the ones who provide you with the drawings of our buildings in which you will draw the electrical components. Holtabs electrical designers draw single-line and circuit diagrams for both simple and more complicated orders, which means that it can take anywhere from a few hours to several days to draw a diagram. Through your work, you contribute to quality assurance of orders to meet customer expectations. Producing construction documents that are approved by the customer before production starts is part of the job.

Within Holtab, we have two manufacturing divisions, Product and Project. In the Product division, we manufacture our standardized products, such as secondary substations, and in the Project division, we manufacture larger and more technically heavy products, such as technical buildings. Regardless of which division you work in, you will act as technical support and have close cooperation with other departments within Holtab; sales engineer, business support, project managers, and production. An important part of your role will be to meet the future needs of solutions for power transmission. For example, smart grids, where you will assist our sales engineer in customer relations and represent the company in technical matters.

For electrical designers, the main dialogue regarding an order takes place internally, but depending on the division, there will occasionally be some customer contact. It may also happen that you participate in meetings when the customer comes to the factory. The solutions that our electrical designers draw up are assembled and installed in our own factories in Tingsryd, Lidhult, and Olofström. The office is adjacent to the main production, which gives you a unique insight into the entire process and the opportunity to see your work grow from drawing to finished end product.

Who we are looking for

To thrive and succeed in the role, we see that you have a post-secondary electrical education. If you also have experience in electrical design in a production context, we see it as a great merit. But if you are coming directly from a relevant education, we are most definetely curios.

We place great importance on your personal qualities and are looking for someone who has a good ability to prioritize and manage parallel projects. As a person, you are interested in technology, cooperative, and have good communication skills.
